Job Description

This person is in charge of helping an organization locate funding sources and crafting persuasive grant submissions. Although the impact on an outsider is subtle and hidden, the position of a grant writer is crucial to the efficient operation of practically all non-profit organizations. A grant writer is different from other human services professionals in that they can work in practically any non-profit organization or sector that seeks grant funding, applying their abilities to almost any situation and having a significant influence.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write grants in accordance with corporate aims and policies.
  • Investigate funding organizations to discover prospective grant opportunities.
  • Work together with the grant team to complete the assigned tasks by the deadline.
  • Establish regular grant meetings to discuss updates, issues, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the grant application’s budget creation.
  • Ensure grant applications, and make sure they are submitted flawlessly.
  • Save grant applications in a database for future use.
  • Prepare grant proposals, applications, letters, and other documentation for prospective and present funders.
  • Maintain an eye on and a record of all submitted, pending, and active proposals.
  • Create strong, useful, and persuasive grant applications.
  • Ask funding organizations how your grant application is doing.
  • Build strong relationships with both existing and potential funding sources.
  • Come up with sponsorship ideas.

  • Must have six years of grant writing experience.
  • Must have written between 30 and 40 grants, with an award rate of 80%.
  • Degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing courses.
  • Candidates must reside in Abuja.
  • Must pass a background check that requires three guarantors and three referees
