Nigeria’s House of Representatives is the lower house of the National Assembly while the upper house is the senate. He is a Nigerian lawyer and politician and a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC. And he has been the Speaker of the House of Representatives since 2019. He is married to Salamatu Gbajabiamila.
Femi Gbajabiamila’s Education and Early Life
The current Speaker of the House of Representatives was born in 1962 on the 25th of June. He is currently 60 years old. His father is Mr Lateet Gbajabiamila while his mother was Mrs Olufunke Gbajabiamila. Femi Gbajabiamila was born in Lagos, Nigeria.
For his primary education, Femi Gbajabiamila attended Mainland Preparatory School while he completed his secondary education at Igbobi College in 1973. He did his A-level at King Williams College in the United Kingdom. And then in 1983, Femi Gbajabiamila graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s degree in law. He graduated with honors and was called to bar in 1984 in Nigeria.
Femi Gbajabiamila has his own law firm called Femi Gbaja & Co. But before establishing his firm, he first worked at Bentley Edu & Co, a law firm in Lagos. He also attended Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in the United States of America from where he earned a Juris Doctor. And then he established a law firm in Atlanta after passing the Georgian bar exam in 2001.
Femi Gbajibiamila’s Political History and Career
Fem’s Gbajabiamila’ s brush with the House of Representatives didn’t start when he became the Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2019. His first election to the House of Representatives was in 2003 and he represented Lagos State Surelere 1 Constituency.
Femi Gbajabiamila has held various positions in the House of Research including Minority Leader in the 7th National Assembly and head of adhoc committee before he emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly which he won with 283 votes while his rival had 78 votes.
