The current Vice President of Nigeria is Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo GCON. He is a Nigerian politician, pastor, professor, and lawyer, the 14th Vice President and a member of the All Progressive Congress. He has been in office since 2015.

Osinbajo was a previous Attorney General of Lagos State. He served in that position between 1999 and 2007. And he carries the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Osinbajo has the intention of running for presidency in the coming presidential election of 2023, of which he announced his intent in April 2022. In the All Progressive Party presidential primaries that took place in June, Osinbajo came third with 235 total votes from the delegates.

Birth and Family

Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo was on the 8th of March 1957 in Creek Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria, into the family of Opeoluwa Osinbajo. His wife is Dolapo Osinbajo with whom he has three children, namely Fiyinfoluwa, Damilola and Kayinsola.

Education

Osinbajo attended a primary school in Lagos called Corona Primary School. Between 1965 and 1975, he went to Igbobi College, which was located in Yaba, Lagos. For his tertiary education, he went to the University of Lagos from where he obtained a degree in Law and he came out with a second Class Upper. After completing a one-year compulsory professional training which he did at the Nigerian Law School, Osinbajo became a Barrister and Solicitor of Nigeria’s Supreme Court. Then, in 1980, he acquired a Master’s of Law degree from the London School of Economics.

When Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential election of March 31st, 2015, Osinbajo consequently became the Vice President-elect and their swearing in took place on the 29th of May in 2015.
